PC gaming and console gaming under one roof with a trading card shop, a board game café and coworking desks. Student lounge by day, tournament floor by night.
The idea
Everything the group knew how to run, in one venue.
The Nook was what happened when the coworking space, the hobby store and the tournament floor stopped being separate businesses and became one room. That's why its logo was the Mastermind Hub's gear-and-lightbulb fused with Contemporary Nook's red and blue dice — the two parent brands, literally combined.
Students came for the desks and the aircon, players came for the tables and the singles, and the gaming rigs kept the place busy through the hours a coworking space normally sits empty.
What was inside
Four businesses,
one door.
Each one covered the hours the others couldn't fill.
PC & console gaming
Rigs and consoles for walk-in play and squads booking a few hours together — the part that kept evenings and weekends full.
Trading card shop
Sealed product, singles and accessories on site, with tables to actually play on — the Contemporary Nook model, transplanted.
Board game café
A library to play through with a table and a drink, for the groups who came without a deck.
Coworking & study areas
Desks, booths and a conference room run under The Mastermind Hub, beside a university campus — thesis season was the busy season.
What it left behind
Closed, but not wasted.
- The Nook closed in December 2025, along with The Mastermind Hub's Anonas run.
- The tournament and community playbook carried over to Contemporary Nook, now in Loyola Heights.
- Running a floor this varied — retail, food, gaming and desks on one system — is a large part of why Keeper exists.
